Cold Cave Tear Into Radio Shack

thumbnail: Cold Cave Tear Into Radio Shack

Or vice versa. You guys often accuse the synth-pop crew for not smiling enough, but the Philly/NYC BTW provide the chirpy soundtrack for this joyful new Holiday Season Radio Shack ad. (Thanks for the tip, Zach.) The Caralee-fronted "Life Magazine" does the honors. Too bad they couldn't talk the company into giving it a go with "Sex Ads." It may very well be the most color you ever see connected to the band, so don't blink.

Vampire Weekend Soundtrack HP Ads, Prep "Cousins"

thumbnail: Vampire Weekend Soundtrack HP Ads, Prep "Cousins"

Vampire Weekend's very familiar "A Punk" soundtracks a colorful (slow) trip (into the city) across Google Maps in an ad for the HP Photosmart Premium, "the world's first Internet connected printed." You'll have to watch to see how it works, but note: Now your sense of touch is also a sense of direction. As far as Contra material goes, the guys returned from Mexico with "Cousins" as the followup to "Horchata." Clearly good reason for a ticker tape parade. Watch them do it live after you watch the commercial.

Antony Sings Puccini For Italian Coffee Antony reinterpreted "Nessun Dorma" and sang it in Italian because "when you are drinking a good coffee or listening to intense music, very often you tend to close your eyes." You tend to do this while sleeping, too. Savor at lavazza.com (via DailySwarm).

Wal-Mart, Axe Say Phoenix Are The Next Big Thing Hey Pearl Jam, Phoenix see your Target tie-in and raise you one Wal-Mart endorsement that also pimps Axe hair products. Watch at walmart.com. Apparently Axe has a product called Phoenix? Quelle coincidence (that's French for LOL).

Phoenix Play Conan, Cadillac Crossover Commercial

thumbnail: Phoenix Play Conan, Cadillac Crossover Commercial

Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix had crossover written all over it from the first synth tones of "1901." And by now you know it's easy, like they did it all summer long. Which they did: raucous club shows, festivals, SNL, countless remixes, talk show appearances, and yes, finally, car commercials. If you haven't seen Wolfgang's non-"Listzomania" signature song filmed for a studio audience yet, we have last night's appearance on Conan along with the Cadillac advert that puts Phoenix one lime-beer commercial away from a perfect score on the multimedia-saturation index that goes from 1 to Santigold.

Chairlift Model Marc Jacobs

thumbnail: Chairlift Model Marc Jacobs

The music/fashion overlap's a natural one, so no big surprise that Chairlift's donning Marc Jacobs' fall line for Saks.com and the store's four-part video series "MARC BY MARC JACOBS Ready-To-Wear and Accessories Collections." (Amrit, Scott, and I are doing part two.) To launch the campaign, the Brooklyn trio played Saks Fifth Avenue's New York store on Saturday. You can take a look at this run through of "Evident Utensil" sans VMA-nominated eye and pixel-warping: Their straight-up performance is inter-cut with the band enjoying Marc Jacobs, variously. They enjoy Jacobs even more in three other non-performance clips, one called "For The Love Of Tacos." Ironically, the video spots are much less fashionably smooth than previous visual treatments for "Bruises" and "Ceiling Wax."

Matt & Kim Play Kimmel

thumbnail: Matt & Kim Play Kimmel

Brooklyn indie pop duo Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino brought their cheery Bacardi-approved stylings to late night TV, but didn't take their clothes off. Maybe they are saving that for Letterman. It can't possibly be a one-time thing. Check out the performance followed by the answer to one fan's burning question.
