Alice Cooper Thinks Vampire Weekend Have No Balls

thumbnail: Alice Cooper Thinks Vampire Weekend Have No Balls

The makeup-wearing senior citizen with the girl's name and 7 handicap is not a fan of Upper West Side Soweto. Alice asks Noisecreep, "Are all American bands metro-sexual now? I heard the title Vampire Weekend and I thought, 'Oh, man, that's gonna be great. I gotta see it. And there are these guys with little Gap T-shirts on and I'm going, 'What happened to the balls in rock 'n' roll? Why are American bands so wimpy?'"

He thought they were real vampires. Honest mistake.

Trent Reznor Still Mouthing Off About Chris Cornell

thumbnail: Trent Reznor Still Mouthing Off About Chris Cornell

Nine Inch Nails waved goodbye to New York this week with gigs at Bowery, Webster (featuring The Downward Spiral in its entirety), and Terminal 5 (featuring Peter Murphy). Chicago, Toronto, and LA are on deck, and then it's an "indefinite hiatus" for NIN while Trent focuses on QAing Android apps or something. One thing's clear, though -- no matter what the digital music prophet ends up doing he will find opportunities to dis Chris Cornell. The beef started with a tweet in March, inspired a prank in April, and continues this week in the Canadian press.

Courtney Love Tells Taylor Momsen To Shut The Fuck Up Seemingly pissed that the "overpriveliged bratty" Gossip Girl "bitch" has a Love-y look and plays in a band, Courtney spewed nonsensical and typographically challenged invective @taylorxmomsen, a Twitter handle that doesn't exist. At least she picked on a 16 year old in a manner befitting a 16 year old.

Jay Reatard Vs Brooklyn As the wounded one notes via Twitter: "Brooklyn shut up ! most of your bands all suck and you are total wanna bees ! The pains of being boring at heart ....oh it must hurt being so bland." This won't end well.

Sonic Youth Take Manhattan, Dis Radiohead

Earlier this week, Matador released The Sonik Youth's 16th album The Eternal. You've probably heard it, and if you enjoyed it you should know that the band (now with 100% Mark Ibold) will take it cross-country this summer (tour dates after the jump). One setlist fixture is sure to be Kim-sung Eternal opener "Sacred Trickster," which the band road tested in two intimate NYC venues this week: Apple Store SoHo (Tuesday) and Ed Sullivan Theater (Wednesday). We've got photos of the former, video of the latter, and an MP3 for your iPhone 3GS.

Courtney Love Does Not Approve Of Ryan Adams/Mandy Moore Union

thumbnail: Courtney Love Does Not Approve Of Ryan Adams/Mandy Moore Union

As far as Courtney's Internet rants go, this latest one is fairly straightforward. It's even got punctuation. Anyway, she's still pissed at Ryan Adams, who she claims stole Frances Bean's trust fund. With MySpace at Courtney's disposal, not even Ryan's wife Mandy Moore is safe. Nor is ... Kathleen Hanna?

Psychedelic Horseshit Hates On Wavves, No Age, TVOTR

thumbnail: Psychedelic Horseshit Hates On Wavves, No Age, TVOTR

Well, at least main Horseshittter Matt Whitehurst does. The following interview he did with the Washington Post is a few weeks old, but Brooklyn Vegan unearthed it today and we thought it was too amusing not to share, especially because, as mentioned, Wavves is such a polarizing figure. Whitehurst also goes on a one-man mission about the popularization of lo-fi (Robert Pollard just pointed at his 1992 calendar), but seems to forget that he took part in that MTV's dorky intro-to-lo-fi spot last year, along with No Age and sundry other acts who've since become more popular. Still, I do like Psychedelic Horseshit OK and it makes for good reading, especially because not enough bands harsh on each other in print these days.

Peaches Disses Radiohead!!1! In response to being told that "Fuck The Pain Away" allegedly influenced In Rainbows, the electroclash musician tells Out, "Actually once I was at an award show and I had to give Radiohead an award and they weren't very friendly." OUCH. Peaches obviously learned nothing from Mileygate.
