Yesterday, the great Levon Helm, of the band, finally lost his long fight with cancer. And last night, in a touching and classy moment, Bon Iver, onstage in San Francisco, covered the Band’s “Ophelia,” one of the songs Helm had sung. The Bon Iver horn section even nailed all the Dixieland runs from the original song. Watch a fan-made video of the performance below; the images aren’t too clear, but the audio is.

A nice moment, and a remarkably quick turnaround.

Wish Bon Iver would start covering The Band full-time.
