Speaking of the Flaming Lips and Record Store Day, one of today’s most anticipated releases was the collaborative LP The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends. You’ve heard cuts featuring Bon Iver, New Fumes, Prefuse 73, and others. Now you can lay your ears on the Doctor Who-sampling, apocalyptic Heady Fwends Ke$ha collab below.
Wayne Coyne enjoyed working with the “TiK ToK” singer so much, the two have already collaborated on another song “about futuristic sex toys” possibly slated for her sophomore LP. And don’t forget Ke$ha gave Wayne her blood, and he let her give him a foot tattoo. BFFs, clearly. “The world would be a better place if there were armies of Ke$has out there,” he told MTV earlier this month. “Being around her and knowing her, I’ve learned just how awesome she is. If more musicians and artists could be like her and stop being so superior and precious and entitled, art would be so much more fun.”
The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends was released today via Warner Bros. Copies have already sold on eBay for $99.

since when has Ke$ha tried to be indie? she loves that pop money…
Actually, when she first arrived on the scene, she was pushing her indie cred hard. Her entire MySpace profile (remember when those were really relevant to marketing your music?) had a longlist of favorite music that included everyone from Minor Threat, Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr. and other atypical to the pop scene indie acts. She told Rolling Stone back in ’10 that she hopes the next LP sounds like The Flaming Lips and Arcade Fire: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/party-animal-behind-ke-has-big-debut-20100126
All credit for this sounding pretty decent and interesting of course goes to the Lips. My only criticism however is that it burned when I took a leak right after I finished listening to the song.
Yeah, it really hurts to walk right now. :(
Doesn’t it sample The Stooges pretty heavily too? Sounds like a bizarre sequel to “1969″.
Hook up already, LMAO!!!
Hm. Not bad, not bad. Ke$ha’s vocals are a bit buried in the mix, but other than that, I like it.
I have to admit I was a bit hesitant to listen to this at first, but this is actually a whooole lot better than I expected it to be.
as soon as I heard this song and the one after it with bon iver I was pretty excited to hear the whole thing
hearing justin vernon belt out, “buuurnninng all ooour fleeesh ooooooff” is a pretty good indicator that the rest of the album’s going to be awesome
I agree with Wayne. There should be more artists like Ke$ha. I can clearly see the excrement and blood paintings of massive robot dildos now. God only knows how badly we need more robot dildos.
So what, just because Wayne Coyne likes Ke$ha is she certified indie cool now? I’m sorry but her music still is terrible, even if she does an occasion collaboration with the Flaming Lips. You seem to have made a mistake. The link you posted leads to the video for “Tik Tok,” which is actually a damn good song. Hell of a lot better than this song, anyway. Although this one’s alright.
