There is no such thing a perfect list. There are lists, however, that love the Streets more than other lists. Stateside we’ve seen Paste hand the top spot to one of Sufjan’s states and Pitchfork gave the nod to Kid A. Since all British people sound the same (just kidding?) you might assume Uncut would be similar to NME‘s 50 Greatest Albums Of The ’00s, but once again assuming makes an ass of “u” and “me.” The top 10 does have a decidedly British bent, but it’s a pack of scruffy New Yorkers (and ex-New Yorkers) who grab number one. Actually, in general, NYC 2001-2003 performs much better than the Now Sound.

Oh yeah, and Burial’s Untrue should be like in the top 20.

Pfffff… Do you English-talking people ever listen to any non-English-talking record ? You’re arguing about this American/British thing, when it should all be about English/other languages (yes, there are other languages, and with good music going on, it’s possible to hear them)…

Um, yeah. How retarded does one have to be to rate ‘the Streets’ (that guy can’t rap!!!) above Jay Z? Like, what kind of sharp, heavy object has to fall on your head for you to do that? And (yes, I’ve heard the album, but…) can anyone just name ONE good Strokes song for me? I’ve never heard so much love for a band without ever being able to find one single decent song by the band. Everyone says ‘they changed the face of music’…how? By being the Ashton Kutcher of rock? Bringing the trucker hat & poofy hair to Williamsburg? I don’t get it.

NME is a pile of crap, always has been. Got a few right but, for the most part, this list is crap. The only thing I truely agree with is the omission of most of the rap garbage that has dominated the music landscape for the last ten years. No TV on the Radio? and Elbow’s Seldom Seen Kid is way too good to pass on. No Spoon? COME ON! Speakerboxx/Love Below was a double CD full of crap. Everything the White Stripes does is crap. The Strokes album sounds like one long song with a few breaks in between. An anyone who thinks that Franz Ferdinand got overlooked should puncture their eardrums with an ice pick, you’re obviously not using your ears for hearing, anyway.

  5. very UK list. I dont think primal scream, arctic monkeys, libertines, etc… would of been so high if it wasn’t written by englishmen (or englishwomen)

also the streets being so radically ahead of jay z and outkast doesn’t really make sense, it was a great album but not THAT great

  6. Ryan Adams beating Wilco by three ranks…and that is what I am talking about.

  7. As much as I don’t agree with a lot of these lists, let’s all be thankful that The Mars Volta isn’t on any of them.

  8. Cause if the N.M.E. says you’re so cool
And they really like your style

Bonus points to whoever knows from what I took that.

i agree with this is it. nme recognizes.

  10. NME have just released their ‘tracks of the decade’ woth a look

  11. Glaring omission: Franz Ferdinand

  12. You have your memories of the old one, 10 years worth…then you got this new one, which is ‘good’ butttt….it always takes time to fairly judge shit and compare. But once again, who CARES, it’’s just a gayass list, don’t let it bother you.
