After topping the Amazon Editors’ Best Albums Of 2009 list, Neko Case took a victory lap, performing a loose, pitch-perfect “Red Tide” for Jimmy Fallon last night. We’ve mentioned previously how good Case and her band sound live, so even though Middle Cyclone came out last March, she might as well prove she can sound great on every Late Night program. (And, in the process, make a case — sorry — that bad Late Night sound can’t always be blamed on the techs.)

Neko Case has always been really good, i’m glad shes getting some attention.

wow, so sweet – nothing like the F bomb dropping sour puss we saw at the Wellmont 2 days prior. Cut her show 3 songs short and left without introducing the band or saying goodbye. Oh, and no encore. Star in decline….
I’ve seen her twice in the last 12 months and she was nothing if not charming. Maybe she had a bad night. No need to start with doomsday prophesies about her star fading.

Star in decline? Based on one bad show? You obviously were not at The Beacon Theatre on Mon night. She wowed everyone playing 24 flawless songs. Joey & Jiohn from Calexico were great openers too, rearranging/stripping down their songs. Great all around show. As for AC Newman and The New Pornographers, you can keep them. They bore me. Neko’s solo stuff is way better.

star in decline??? sour puss??? are you crazy?! saw neko in new orleans and she was AMAZING! not only was her performance incredible but she was funny, friendly, took pics and signed autographs after the show. headed to see her again in dallas next week. love her!!!
