The second season of The Voice, NBC’s shockingly successful answer to American Idol, is coming to a close. I didn’t watch this one, because nobody paid me to write about it, but I did get paid to write about the first season, and I thought it was pretty good. The thing where contestants have to go against each other by singing duets in a neon boxing ring was awesome. Anyway, earlier this week, the semifinalist contestant Lindsey Pavao sang Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love,” a song that turns out to translate shockingly well to the strictures of singing-competition shows. It also gave Cee-Lo a chance to say, “I’m more into big love,” which was ridiculous. Watch it below.
Bon Iver’s transcendent popularity was not, as it turns out, enough to save Pavao; she got bounced last night.

Worth watching solely for that ridiculous guitar player. Especially at about 0:26.
Was not as bad as I expected.
However, if you’re going to pretend you can play the guitar, play it. That guitar part isn’t hard, to half-ass it is infuriating.
Also, the first minute and a half was awful.
that has nothing on this…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfAS6nwYc9g
Just the emotion he puts into it, it’s all lost in that rendition on the Voice.
nice
