For their new album In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull, Brit-rock brother band no longer had the services of legendary guitar hero Johnny Marr at their disposal. They did, however, have some other big-name help, enlisting two of the most important producers in indie rock history. The band recorded part of the album with Flaming Lip/Mercury Rev producer Dave Fridmann and another part with veteran face-scraper Steve Albini. We’ve already heard the early tracks “Chi-Town” and “Come On, Be A No One,” but now we get to hear the entire final product. Stream the album in full below.

They’re so much better without Johnny Marr. They sound like the Cribs again. Good album, enjoying it quite a bit so far.
Better without Marr. Don’t know why, just Cribs songs have always been about 3 brothers bashing it out, and Marr lent a bit too much sophistication, maybe? The Cribs remain proof that there is always room for big guitar chords and stadium-chant melodies. One of the most fun (and funniest) live bands out there. If you have a chance to go see them, you’re a fool not to.
I loved the work they did with Marr, but I agree they’ve backtracked a bit without him, Id love it either way im sure…
