Yup, Red continues birthing new b-sides. Last week we heard Rivers do BoA’s “????.” Now, there are four songs you may not want to sink your teeth into: “It’s Easy” offers loose, jammy country western(ish) sounds (which make me think of the Replacements for some reason… maybe because the band’s going on that Hootenanny tour?), odd and spacey pronunciations (“Miss Sweeney”), a dramatic ballad (“King”) or two (“The Spider”). “Pork And Beans” is a fun song — and a better video — and there are certainly other enjoyable Red moments, but it’s usually wise not to include extras if they’re just going to contaminate the rest of the already spotty track list. As always, you can judge for yourself.
“It’s Easy”
“The Spider”
“King”
“Miss Sweeney”
“The King” is maybe the best of the lot — Westside Story-core. If it wasn’t so hot in here, I might even be tempted to raise a lighter. But probably not.

I think “miss Sweeney” is great, and so wish it was on the regular disc. It’s similar to “Pork and Beans” in that I think it mashes up Pinkerton verses with big Blue choruses.
Also, these aren’t technically b-sides since they’re on the “limited edition” version of the album.
‘It’s Easy’ is rad.
Brian Bell rocks socks.
I wonder why the Talk Talk cover didn’t leak.
It did leak. I have it. The only b-side I don’t have, at the moment, is the Psychedelic Furs “Love My Way” cover from the “Pork and Beans” singles. Let me know if you need it.
I’m honestly not thrilled with the b-sides. (I don’t consider the four tracks from the deluxe edition to be true b-sides, even though they technically are.) I enjoy the iTunes preorder exclusive “I Can Love” demo. That’s some good stuff. “The Weight” is indeed decent. “It’s Easy” is okay. Generally, though, I’d say it’s all fairly forgettable. I miss the days of b-sides that were better than the album material.
Yes send it to me?
Pig is the best of the deluxe extras by far…and i love Miss Sweeney (although it sounds so much like Suzanne)
Chill with the Weezer posts already.
God, Weezer kicks ass…I would have subsitutued Miss Sweeney and Its easy for Cold Dark World and Everybody get dangerous
I don’t think the album is so cohesive without them that the inclusion of a couple of these decent tracks would have been a detriment. But at least they come with the “deluxe” version.
Weezer’s cover of “The weight” on the UK release of the record is actually not bad at all. I was pleasantly surprised.
Miss Sweeney is great song, and I wish it was on the regular album. I have the deluxe, and I’ve listened to that track more than most of the regular Red tracks. tankboy was right about how it’s like a Pinkterton-Blue mash-up kind of track.
Any assistance with making the “Life’s What You Make It” or “Oddfellows Local 151″ covers available for perusal would be greatly appreciated. I wish they hadn’t scattered these bonus tracks across the globe.
miss the days when b-sides were better than the album material??? huh??? sure there have been a few mistakes of songs that missed albums and ended up as b-sides, or perhaps written too late for an album, but gee wizz you are talking like it was an art form and intended, you don’t truly believe that?
Anyone who knows or has Love my way, or Oddfellows Local 151 cover by Weezer, I need. Almost done with the completion of my Red.
