Dirty Projectors - Swing Lo Magellan

In about a month, Dirty Projectors will release their first LP since their 2009 breakthrough Bitte Orca. It’s called Swing Lo Magellan, and it already has B-sides that are better than most bands’ A-sides. (Incidentally, It also has A-sides that are better than most bands’ A-sides.) Today they’ve revealed its cover art, pictured above, featuring principal Projector Dave Longstreth and his partner Projector Amber Coffman in conversation with someone, somewhere, about something. There is literally no way to know what it is going on there, but there is at least one way you can make it up and then win one of the 3,000 limited edition Deluxe Swing Lo Magellan vinyl packages the band is releasing: Post a caption below, and be the comment that has the highest rating. To the one of you that will pull off this feat, we will award the Swing Lo Magellan Deluxe Vinyl pack, and then be jealous of you for having it.

The package itself is no joke, insofar as it includes a square vinyl single with a b-side engraved with cuneiform etchings. It also features a “Deluxe Tip-On Embossed Gatefold Sleeve,” an 11″ x 22″ Embossed Fold-out Lyric Tablet, and will come with WAVs and MP3s. That square vinyl is called the Gun Has No Trigger Tablet Of Values, which consists of an 8″ by 8″ Square Vinyl single, with “Gun Has No Trigger” on the front, and “Sumerian Akkadian Cuneiform Etching Of Complete Lyrics Of ‘Gun Has No Trigger’ Translated By Dr. M. Wllis Monroe.” Very normal stuff!

You have until 5/30 at 6 PM EST to enter, but best get your submission in sooner so folks have a chance to thumbs up!

Swing Lo Magellan is out 7/10 in the US, and the day before in other countries, via Domino. You can pre-order at Domino. Happy captioning. Here’s the tracklist:
