Pop. 1280 - "Bodies In The Sand" Video

The New York band Pop. 1280 make a grimy, scuzzy, entirely sinister variety of art-punk. So it only makes sense that director Jacqueline Castel would turn the video for their song “Bodies In The Dunes” into a ’70s-style mini-horror movie about a serial killer who buries his victims on a deserted beach. The video isn’t exactly NSFW, but there’s a good chance it’ll get under your skin. Watch it and download the song below.

  1. I don’t know if I’d say ’70s horror movie. The opening certainly feels like something out of an Italian gialli film, but the rest seems more akin to ’80s true crime horror movies like Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer or The Stepfather. Either way, love this band. Wish more acts like this would get attention over the twee affectations of the typical indie spotlight bands.

    • Indeed. someone needs to bomb Brooklyn with fuzz pedals.

    • Want to thumbs this up for the last comment, sadly I doubt that will happen. “Safe music” will always be favored and in the spotlight. I personal like a lot of wussy pop music and typical indie shit, but a band like this makes a hell of bigger impression. People should check out like-minded bands like Broken Water, the Men, Sex Church, White Suns, The Intelligence, Eat Sugar (and the band Eat Sugar, The Intelligence and Pop all owe debt to, the might Brainiac).
