On the heels of revealing more European tour dates, Scott Kannberg told an Australian newspaper that if the reunion’s “enjoyable” it’s “inevitable that we’ll make some more music.” They’re “taking it one step at a time,” but start dreaming/nightmaring at The Age.

Has it really been 10 years since I saw these guys? I vividly remember that killer stage show…a slide projector & Christmas lights.
Here’s hoping.
harness your hopes
I hope so. But the biggest question mark remains, as usual, Malkmus.
Who knows? We never thought the Pixies would make new music, and it looks like that might happen.
No no no no no! They were just supposed to reunite and play the old stuff. not write new stuff. god, don’t they read my blog?
Dinosaur Jr wrote new stuff and it turned out great. Why can’t Pavement do the same?
Agree. The new material that Dinosaur Junior is awesome. As good if not better than back catalog stuff. But let’s face it. It’s the exception, not the rule.
Goodbye Animal Collective, you are not relevant anymore. Pavement > AC
“Goodbye Animal Collective, you are not relevant anymore. Pavement > AC”
that is the greatest comment I have ever read on stereogum.
agree.agree.agree.
Of course it’s inevitable. Malkmus’ solo stuff pales in comparison to what they gave us as a band.
I think that may be less true than you think. Hopscotch Willie and Gardenia are pretty great. Sometimes we look back with ‘those were the days’ eyes.
These guys always opened those albums SO strong,,,They just got better at it you could argue…
The problem is that Scott was the last member of the band to accept that they’d broken up. His wishful thinking isn’t of much importance.
Am I the only guy in the world who isn’t gaga over Pavement? I admit, I didn’t hear Pavement until after they broke up, so they don’t have the same meaning for me as they do for you old folks. But really, I think Malkmus is way better now… songs are tight, melodies are interesting, lyrics are just as weird.
I understand, they were groundbreaking and all that, but I’d much rather listen to Pixies or Dino Jr. or Guided By Voices or Built To Spill.
