Bruce Springsteen - "Rocky Ground" Video

Bruce Springsteen doesn’t show up in his video for “Rocky Ground,” the gospel-tinged underclass lament from his new album Wrecking Ball. Instead, the clip superimposes scrawls of the song’s lyrics over images of urban desolation. It’s a blunt but effective way to make sure the song’s message gets across. Watch it below.

Wrecking Ball is out now on Columbia. Buy it from eMusic.

  1. I’m a Bruce fan but this song is almost Mellencamp Lite. The rap part at the end is ridiculous. He needs to work with Brendan O’Brien again.

    • Yeah I’m not taken with this song either, Wrecking Ball has much stronger songs than this. Last time I cringed at a song on a Springsteen album this much was Skin To Skin on The Rising.

I don’t get why Bruce chooses to highlight this so much over some of the others – it was his Record Store Day release and it’s in virtually every set of his tour so far.

I’d much prefer him to have something like We Are Alive as a single.
