While I love the Grizzly Bear album, those are two of the most BORING videos I have ever seen. both are like 4 minutes of nothing. You guys have no taste in music videos. how about “Sour – Hibi no Neiro”, “Passion Pit – The Reeling”, “Basement Jaxx – My Turn”, “The Most Serene Republic – Heavens to Purgatory”, “Dan Black – Alone”, I could go on… You all voted on songs, not videos, it seems. And as much as I love the Gainsbourg video, it came out like 4 days before the Gummy voting and for a 2010 album! come on, lol. and if you are voting for 2010 album videos, then Ambling Alp and Cousins have to be in here.

Whoa whoa whoa. Go watch Ready, Able again.

BUT AMBLING ALP DESTROYS ALL OF THESE

    • wow i have to agree with Sour’s vide
      that is really amazing

i have to say that watching lady gaga on the number 3 makes me feel less guilty about loving that video xD

    • Seriously. All this list tells me is that people really don’t watch music videos anymore. Just because the song is good, doesn’t mean the video is good. “Stillness is the Move”, and “My Girls”? People are just not paying attention.

  2. Fever Ray’s video for If I Had A Heart was way cooler than When i Grow Up.
Way cooler than most or all of these.

  3. OH SHIT! i just read the celebrity gummy ballots and ted leo reminded me…PON DE FLOOR! what the fuck, everybody!? biggest omission on any of these lists!

  4. Anyone remember the clip for Depeche Mode’s ‘Wrong’? That was my favourite! Oooh also ‘I Say Fever’ by Ramona Falls! Some fine AE work in that one. Check them out if you haven’t seen them yet.

    No Hope Kids

  6. Can’t complain about any of these really. Good choices, although “Lust For Life” should’ve been the NSFW version;)

  7. MTV should be taking notes right about now.

  8. Incredibly surprised to see Lady Gaga #3 on a Stereogum list. Not sure what to think.

  9. I can’t believe “Whale Song” and “King Rat” by Modest Mouse aren’t on that list.

  10. Where the fuck is Pon De Floor? Also the alternate Grizzly Bear video by Gabe Askew was was better than the original. Pitchfork knew what’s up by pairing them in their list

  11. Wow. I thought for sure Department of Eagles’ No One Does It Like You would have cracked the top ten. I also really liked Fleet Foxes’ Mykonos.

If I Had a Heart should have been a no brainer for #1 and When I Grow Up #2. Some real shit in that list, though I liked Two Weeks a lot…

MGMT video should have been disqualified for not knowing their Nietzsche.

  14. two of the same artist on a top video list? what is this, mtv2?

  15. where is Heads Will Roll??? >:(

while i’m glad to see the video i voted for make the list (watching the planets), i am sad that the video i actually wanted to win ( st. vincent marrow) did not.

The Two Weeks vid is great because if you know what the band looks like it’s hilarious, and Ready, Able is great because it’s strangely tragic. Does that sum up Grizzly Bear?

  18. mighty undies  |   Posted on Dec 10th, 2009 0

Fever Ray’s If I Had A Heart and Charlotte Gainbourg’s vid are obviously the best videos of the year. Lady Gaga’s video is so 90s you just gotta love it (song is egregious though).

  19. Joel  |   Posted on Dec 12th, 2009 0

Stillness is the move is just the worst video ever. How did that make it in?

  20. aham  |   Posted on Dec 13th, 2009 0

Euuu… pretty bad list. What about N.A.S.A.’s “A Volta”? Depeche Mode’s “Wrong”? The Dead Weather’s “Treat Me Like Your Mother”? People got it all wrong in this list (except for “Watching the Planets”. That’s a good video).

  21. kevin  |   Posted on Dec 16th, 2009 0

i thoroughly enjoyed bat for lashes’ “daniel”

  22. tracy  |   Posted on Dec 18th, 2009 0

the grizzly bear song is great, but i really don’t understand how the video was #1.

  23. Tim  |   Posted on Jan 6th, 2010 0

“I Say Fever” by Ramona Falls…. awesome!

  24. Tim  |   Posted on Jan 6th, 2010 0

“I Say Fever” by Ramona Falls…. awesome!

  25. this list is WAY too safe. come on, take some chances stereogum. seen all these before. I’ve made better videos than fever ray geez. “deerhunter – strange lights” now thats a video. its simple but blows your fucking mind. it isnt a million fast cuts and bangs and booms and produced like these.

PS> dont go bat shit because deerhunter is popular now. they deserve it. although they do suck pitchforks dick for publicity.
