Cyndi Lauper recently collaborated with Basement Jaxx, Kleerup, Dragonette, and Scumfrog, among others, for her new album Bring Ya To The Brink and is currently on the True Colors tour with the B-52’s, Regina Spector, Tegan & Sara, etc. In the meantime, looking back to Lauper’s prime ’80s period, Ottawa naturalist Poi Dog Pondering-esque folk crew (and environmental graphic design artists) the Acorn covered “Good Enough” from that Baby Ruth-pimping film The Goonies.
The Acorn – “Good Enough” (Cyndi Lauper Cover) (MP3)
Good enough, but the WWF and Spielberg-packed video for the original is better.
“Steven Spielberg, how do I get out of this one?” More importantly: Did we ever get a part two?

The Cyndi Lauper original is so much better then this cover. Just had to say.
As if anything could be better than that video.
I never realized how sad those lyrics were. I guess that’s typical of Cyndi Lauper songs; the pop masks the sadness. Always happy to hear new Acorn! Beautiful stuff.
I always loved this song.
Should be noted that the band recorded the cover for a Cokemachineglow podcast: http://www.cokemachineglow.com/podcast/3566/mayjune-2008
Ah! I covered it first!
Ok, it’s probably been covered maybe times coz it’s just that good.

Always thrilled to add more of The Acorn to my collection! Great cover…
There is a part two, featuring Andre the Giant laying the smack down on Rowdy Roddy. Both parts are on the Goonies dvd.
A-ha. Here’s the full 12-minute version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kMi9tvuuZY
I remember this now.
Wasn’t this song in the Goonies???
You mispelled Regina Spektor’s last name.
