Between Red and various bonuses, Weezer’s given us plenty of Weezer lately. Hell, why not give us songs written by other people, too? NME reports the UK “Pork And Beans” single will come in three versions with three different B-Sides, R.E.M.’s “Oddfellows Local 151,” Psychedelic Furs’ “Love My Way,” and Gary Numan’s “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” Elsewhere, Pitchfork reveals they covered “Creep” at a Hootenanny gig in Phoenix. Don’t tell Prince.

I hear they are also covering a good band called Weezer on the tour. They had two good albums in the 90′s. Not sure what happened to them though.

I hate to be hyperbolic, but that is one of the best comments I’ve seen on a message board anywhere.

After only reading the headline, I knew the Radiohead song they’d covered was “Creep.”

    Lame.

  4. Yeah, it was cool to cover “Creep,” like, ten years ago. Maybe. Sigh.

  5. Polyphonic Spree did ‘Love My Way’ on their Wait EP and I’m sure it’s far better than however these fellas are gunna do it.

Here’s them doing “Creep,” with Scott Shriner on vocals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqPDnnKEeuM

Yeah, not the most inspired cover choice. But to be fair, they probably chose it to make it easier for those kids playing along. Weezer actually opened for Radiohead back in ’95, and I wouldn’t be surprised if “Creep” influenced Weezer’s early stuff, i.e. the self-loathing sentiment and quiet-loud-quiet dynamics.
