Hours after a new album announcement, Frank Ocean took to his Tumblr to post the nine-minute “Pyramids,” a slice of which we heard in the initial teaser. It’s a funky, blown-out pop opus with multiple parts, a song that showcases Ocean’s brilliant, idiosyncratic vision. Download it below. UPDATE: Allegedly, John Mayer plays the guitar solo on “Pyramids,” which probably explains why he was in the studio with Frank a while back. So, there you go.

This is the sound of a genius.
Weird seeing John Mayer as a credited writer…guess he did the guitar solo at the end.
Damn, good note. Added that. What can’t John Mayer do, you guys.
Write a single song that’s not absolutely fucking terrible?
First DMB gets metaphorically pooped on, now people are taking to the streets over John Mayer? Eben mind explaining your issue with John?
lets keep this about Ocean, guys.
Awwww, John Mayer never got you laid? Sorry, bro.
Wahh wahhhhhhhhhh..
Most of Mayer’s music isn’t exactly my thing, but anyone can enjoy Gravity. That’s a good one.
Not really a fan of most of his studio recordings, but he’s a pretty incredible blues guitarist. Too bad he kinda got caught in a rut having a fan-base that wants to hear his soft-rock heartbreak songs. His new album isn’t bad though.
That is the funniest artwork I have seen in ages
Pyramids
I cannot get enough of that song. I still listen to Ultra consistently. Blows my mind
It’s hard to make a song as long as this that can keep you entertained throughout its entirety. But every second of this song is as great as the previous one. Well done.
Frank Ocean is one of the few artists I admire that I hope gets alot of mainstream buzz. He’s exactly what popular R&B needs and has needed for a couple of years now. It might be hard to get spins with a 10 minute song (I”m sure a radio edit’s on the way), but I feel like he’s one of those musicians like Andre, that he’s so talented that whatever he does will appeal to a big audience.
this makes me really hopeful that my plan to spend a year listening only to music that is given away legally online through blogs and itunes et al is going to provide some killer listens!
this song is fucking astounding! some of the hipest grooviest most A-list production i’ve heard since Bon Iver’s live footage from Coachella! thanks Frank!
OFWGKTA!!
I want to hear all ten minutes of this on the radio.
I can’t stop listening to this. Brilliant.
This and DoYaThing, already in 2012. I love crazy long well done songs, they just build up so much momentum and reach a level that a normal song can’t really compete with in three minutes. Also my bus ride to school is like the exact same length as this song so thats great
had my macbook stolen/lost a few days ago, replaced it and this song is the first thing I came back to the web to get! first and only song in my itunes as of this comment!
