Metric’s new video for the gleaming, stomping glam-pop single “Youth Without Youth” is the most ’90s-MTV thing I’ve seen in a while. We get a whole lot of shots of the band looking glamorous on a soundstage somewhere, as well as assorted non-sequiturs: football players, a little kid stacking up cakes, an old lady with a shotgun. Say it with me…sellouts? Haha no, I wikied Emily and found out she is a dual citizen of Canada and the U.S. with her parents hailing from the States. It probably wasn’t her decision as much as it was Mom + Pop (my failed attempt at humor for the day).
seeing this on mtv feels more like a commercial brake than a music video
