In 2009, the 20-year-old Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington was murdered after leaving a Metallica show in Charlottesville, Virginia. The killer hasn’t been caught, but since then, the murderer has also been linked with a 2005 sexual assault in Virginia. And now the band has gotten involved with the case, with James Hetfield recording a PSA displaying the police composite sketch of the killer and urging any viewers to contact authorities if you’ve seen him. Watch it below.
It can be easy to make fun of Metallica sometimes, but it’s always good to see a band, especially one on their level, standing up for their fans after something terrible happens.

Very cool of them. I’m liking that Blackstar amp behind James, also…those amps kill. No pun intended, seriously.
