In their video for “Earthquake,” Kansas City dance-pop performance-art freaks SSION depict their hometown as a suburban sprawl with a surprisingly high per capita number of elaborately costumed weirdos. They were a pretty solid live show when I saw them open for Fischerspooner, but the product placement in this video was pretty revolting.

do you seriously think this band got product placement for this video????? that’s insane. they didn’t. their videos are always made on a shoestring budget with whatever they can borrow from friends. that’s part of what makes them so amazing.
