The more we listen to BTW Pictureplane’s superb Dark Rift, the more it’s clear Travis Egedy, the one-man Denver-via-Santa Fe bedroom dance leader, is only getting started. Over the weekend, he passed along this self-directed video for “Cyclical Cyclical (Atlantis).” It was shot in one take. Travis told us “It is a performance art piece done in the style of a music video… the ‘performance’ consists of my direction over certain other performers, to create a loose ‘situation,’ an attempt at temporarily semi-controlled chaos.” And at YouTube he notes it’s a recreation of his 2007 performance, “Totally Dude”: “artist as subject ‘VS.’ objects. creation of situation with limited ‘objective,’ creation of temporary autonomous chaos,” etc. It includes less Stevie Nicks than “Goth Star.”

Dark Rift is out via Lovepump. Not tired of 2009 yet? Travis gives his take on “Party In The USA,” a song he discovered via his HEALTH pals, at Plain Pictures.

Lame video, awesome song. Most underrated album of 2009.
