Karen has a Golden Globe nom, but her WTWTA work has been snubbed from Best Original Score Oscar contention, likely for its “predominant use of songs.” As for Eno’s The Lovely Bones? He just couldn’t be bothered with the publicity campaign. (via 24bit)

Not to mention it sounds EXACTLY like Danielson Famile
Sigh. According to the article Karen O was probably disqualified because of the same rule that disqualified Jonny Greenwood’s There Will Be Blood score a couple years back (yes, I’m still a little bitter over that one) – and Eno likely would have been disqualified for the same reason even if it had been submitted for consideration. Maybe it’s time the Academy revised their system a bit, no? Not that I particularly love the Oscars, but what exactly is the point of giving an award when their rules routinely exclude work widely considered deserving of their recognition?
And on top of all that, the 2006 winner for Best Original Score (Babel) broke the very same rule. Hmmm…
Aw poor thing, you know it’s hard out there for peeeeewmp
