Last night, BET broadcasted their BET Awards, a ceremony that went down at L.A.’s the Shrine Auditorium and featured a star-studded performance lineup as folks like Kanye West and G.O.O.D Music, D’Angelo, Usher, Nicki Minaj and many more took the stage. Notably, Kanye & G.O.O.D. played “Mercy,” “Cold,” and unveiled “New God Flow,” D’Angelo did “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” and new one “Sugar Daddy,” and Mariah Carey and others floored the audience with a moving Whitney Houston tribute. Award-wise, the Throne and BeyoncĂ© dominated. Watch videos of the performances below.
Here’s the list of the winners.

Kanye killed it. It was really cool hearing “Sugar Daddy” with better audio than the fan videos from D’s European gigs in the UK earlier this year. It was surreal watching D’Angelo get down in front of Beyonce, Kanye, Jay, and Nicki. It’s like he had to remind them what raw black music sounded like. They were feeling it though.
I’m just glad D is back. That had me smiling the whole night.

Big ups to BET.
From those performances alone this seemed like a better music awards show than… all the rest.
