Ex-Blood Brother co-vocalist Jordan Blilie shreds his chords all over again for the Seattle quartet Past Lives, a band that also features onetime Brothers Morgan Henderson, Mark Gajadhar, and Devin Welch. You might not get this based on the eerie down-tempo “Deep In The Valley,” a song from the band’s debut studio album Tapestry Of Webs that features Jordan’s twin sister Hannah Blilie on backing vocals. (When not guesting on songs by her brother’s band, she plays drums in the Gossip.) The collection maintains a muscular dark crawl (see Hoover’s “Cable” at half-speed) here and there, but there are more than enough moments of release that feel even bigger after being bottled up.
The previously mentioned catharsis:
Tapestry Of Webs is out 2/23 via Suicide Squeeze. That album art’s from a painting by Ryan Iverson. The band’s going on a tour that includes quite a few dates with the Thermals.
