In a down economy you gotta do what you gotta do to make ends meet, and sometimes that means taking a job as Courtney Love’s assistant. But let’s face it, there’s a chance that gig has a downside. Yesterday, Love was sued by a woman who held that position for a year before allegedly being wrongfully terminated. And the suit is a doozy.
The plaintiff, Jessica Labrie, was hired in June 2010 as an administrative assistant and “forensic research aide” (obviously). Her allegations, via E!:
Love had her working 60-hour-plus weeks without paying overtime, she asked her to hire a computer hacker, she directed her to send fake legal correspondence, she never followed up with a promise to pay for Labrie’s Yale tuition, she never paid her any promised bonuses and she didn’t secure her a promised job on the set of a Nirvana biopic.
According to the suit, Love “acted with an improper or evil motive amounting to malice or despicable conduct.”
Love’s camp has yet to respond to the charges. You can check out a PDF of the lawsuit here, and be thankful you’re not on either end of this thing.
