Norwegian-to-Brooklyn crooner (and Animal Collective coverer) Sondre Lerche isn’t shy about starring and acting — goofy or otherwise — in his videos. Lerche’s Coney Island adventure for “Heartbeat Radio” was, we were told, “in the spirit of Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald.” This colorful “If Only” clip, directed by Celia Rowlson-Hall, tells a love story that’s more in the spirit of a renaissance fair, a Feist dance routine, and The Neverending Story with Tim Harrington’s stunt double as Falkor.

Heartbeat Radio is out via Rounder. Lerche is taking part in Strength Through Unity, a benefit for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti taking place 1/27 at the Bell House. We’re told that “All performers will be playing abbreviated, acoustic and/or stripped down sets.” Said performers: Jimmy Fallon, the Walkmen, Ted Leo, Eugene Mirman, the Wrens, Michael Showalter, Todd Barry, AC Newman, Here We Go Magic, etc. All proceeds go to Save The Children and Partners In Health. Lerche’s doing some other shows, too:

The song was very unique and Sondre sang it in his easy and fun style. He should have kissed the girl.
