Tonight was supposed to be the first gig for the Dan Boeckner/Britt Daniel/Sam Brown supergroup Divine FIts, but last night they jumped the gun and played a surprise set at Austin, TX’s Austin Continental Club. Billed as The Hot Skull, the band performed 12 songs which included a slew of new ones as well as a cover of Tom Petty’s “You Got Lucky.” Watch some fan footage of “My Love Is Real,” new song “Flaggin’ A Ride” and the Petty cover below.

Well, I’m loving this. Huge fuckin Spoon fan.
But after hearing Would That Not Be Nice and now Flaggin a Ride… well I guess I just hoped that Brit would take this opportunity to do something different. I mean, they both sound like Spoon songs. Like, exactly like Spoon songs.. right?
