A while ago, we brought you tidings that Conor Oberst planned to reunite Desaparecidos, and today he makes good on his word with two new songs. “MariKKKopa” is a seething political number targeting Maricopa County, AZ sheriff Joe Arpaio, and the other, “Backsell,” is a similarly hard-charging, stormy track. Hear both below..

They’re both available for purchase tomorrow via the band’s website.

The music itself sounds dated, but may I be so bold as to say we’re far enough away from the turn of the millennium to call this a throwback? Both songs sound exactly as I remember Desaparecidos way back when.
Agreed. I wouldn’t even say they sound that dated… they just sound like Desaparecidos. On that note, I’m excited as shit to see them play at the end of the month.
Shit is bumpin. I’m the only one of my friends who never grew out of my love of Mr. Oberst. Now it looks like I never will.
Don’t ever grow up, man. Never grow up…
I still love everything up until Wide Awake/Digital Ash, but he sorta lost me after that, particularly with his solo work. But this… this is the Conor I knew and loved.
