Last night on The Tonight Show, the Smashing Pumpkins came through and played “The Celestials,” the stately and slow-building alt-rock ballad from their new album Oceania. This being my first glimpse of the live reconstituted Pumpkins in a while, I have to say that they sounded like a pretty kickass arena band. Watch the performance below.
Oceania is out now on EMI.

Watch Bill Corgan and other people play Leno
Go listen to Siamese Dream, nothing more than a Corgan solo album.
Billy Corgan’s midlife crisis do Leno.
Jay fronts that band half the year. They’re the Smashing Lenos.
Wait…then whose this band the Jay Pumpkins I’ve been listening to?
when i was a kid in the 90s and the radio DJ would keep playing the irrelevant Queenryche even though all anyone wanted to hear the Smashing Pumpkins. i remember thinking, man, i just wish Queensryche would throw in the towel.
SO glad they are good again
