True to John Hughes-inspired form, this latest video — for the OMD-y “Kim & Jessie” from Anthony Gonzales’s awesome ’80s homage Saturdays = Youth — has a pair of pretty (in pink) girls, fighting the odds with funny faces and a bond that prevails over their hormonally charged environment. Oh and also, lots of inline skating. And whatever the first few minutes of the clip makes you assume about Kim & Jessie’s secret world, the ending will probably prove you wrong.
Told ya. Saturdays = Youth is out via Mute. Watch the vid for “Graveyard Girl” here, watch it all happen live here:

Still my favorite song from the album.
The end smooch does nothing to negate the lezzie vibe of the video.
Radio edits suck.
“The hardest part of rollerblading is telling your parents that you’re gay”
what the hell was that?
I assumed Jessie in the song was a dude. This video reminded me of Flight of the Conchords’ “Ladies of the World,” except this one is ass.
Ugh…this album was dissapointingly lame aside from “Graveyard Girl” (which still doesn’t hold a candle to anything on Dead Cities…)
best song of the album
that was stupid.
scissor me timbers
Kim & Jesse = Mel & Kim
Great video, great song, great album. My favorite of the year.
