We received a press release today stating the Crowes have issued a legal notice that Wilson’s “Work Hard, Play Harder” rips off “Jealous Again.” And true, the verses are substantially similar, but damn the Crowes are milking PR from controversy these days. Congrats on your new publicity team, Mr. Robinsons.

I assume you mean “Work Hard, Play Harder”, no?

Wow, this sounds REALLY similar– it’s even the same F’in key!

Always liked Jealous Again– count me in for Team Crowes on this one.

No, no, no, it’s all ok. Gretchen went straight to the source and asked the Rolling Stones if she could borrow from them and they gave their approval.

The verse is the same. Gretchen Wilson probably doesn’t write her own songs, so she doesn’t care and has big label taking any heat.

It’s poppy red-necked country music, which is recycled anyway.

the rolling stones should sue the black crowes for stealing their legal strategy, among other things.

And “Jealous Again” kinda sounds like “Tumbling Dice.” Songs sound alike all the time. Still, this does remind me of how awesome the Black Crowes used to be.

The lyric verses are similar, yes. But there are probably 8 billion rock songs out there that talk about third-person association with relationships. Nothing new there.
As far as the music, that’s a lot closer side-by-side. It’s virtually the same chord progression up until the chorus but again, nothing new there either as far as the Crowes. The Stones did it before them and Howlin Wolf before them.
Frankly, I think it’s damn near impossible to accuse anyone of stealing in rock music because rock music only knows its past. Its only form of evolution is purely out of reinventing itself.

Obviously, none of you listen to the Crowes. They sound like Faces, not the Stones…
