A long Labor Day weekend is upon us! Which means this weekend we have some extra time to reflect upon the week that was. And by “reflect on the week that was,” of course, I mean only that we will have extra time to relive all of the great and horrible conversations we had in the comments over this past few days. You know, the important stuff. Let’s get to it:
THIS WEEK’S 10 HIGHEST RATED COMMENTS

Yeah, fucking TV on the Radio, a bunch of Beach House wannabes. And don’t get me started on The Airborne Toxic Event, or as I call them, Bon Iver. |

Corban, I think you’re missing something here. I think we’re all missing something here. Maybe we need to accept the possibility of a record so excellent we don’t understand it yet. (My apologies. I can’t let Stereogum live that line down just yet.) |

Any time I see the word “hipster” used as baseless derision, it makes me want to write a thesis paper on how the word doesn’t mean anything anymore and how it’s just a catch-all for something you don’t like. Seasame Street is hipster. |

Was their criteria ‘good bands that are popular amongst people who like music’? Because that seems to work for most bands on the list. |

Are they just upset that no one cares about Incubus and 311 anymore? |

The list is pretty damn right on. I love when critics murder Bon Iver, they suck so hard. Except Arcade Fire – Neon Bible was seriously overrated, but The Suburbs is legit incredible. Even the ones I like like Sleigh Bells, I can’t argue with their point that the 2nd album was a big letdown. |

Pointless, negative, childish. I’m going to add Corban Goble to my 20 most needy music journalists list. |

Nate’s actually one of the nicest singers you’ll ever meet. Talked to him after a show in Boulder a few years back that only about 100 people attended… back when no one knew who they were. He’s also big on gay rights. So… you know, go to hell or something. |

I actually think they are kind of right on. Aside from Ariel Pink and MGMT. I would say that the other 18 bands range from absolutely awful (Bon Iver) to Ok (Grizzly Bear). I’m kind of with them on this. The less Tuneyards and Sleigh Bells the better. |

You are all just pretending to like this so everyone will think you are cool right? These fucking assholes called Swan sound like they are just banging on random instruments going “aish!” over and over. What garbage, album of the year my poopy butt! |

oh boy
So close LA Weekly… so close.
l.a. weekly is the michael_ of newspapers. so close yet so far.
5 bucks says that downvote was from michael_
Anyone else at FYF this weekend?
me but who are you?
I wish. The line-up looks awesome. I’m settling for MusicFestNW this week, although I’ll be seeing Joyce Manor, Tallest Man On Earth, Purity Ring, Flying Lotus, Menomena, Beirut and Gardens & Villa there.
i like the new format. lists of lists. powah to the people.
No gifs this week huh?
*adds “mentioning gifs” to the list of things that apparently offend people on Stereogum*
Yeah not sure about that reaction. Just a simple question.
Hey, as of this post, I am down to -2 for referencing Hulk Hogan’s iconic entrance song.
I think it’s probably the fact there is a gif right in there, staring out of the screen at you.
I thought he just meant down here in the comments. I doubt he missed Jon Stewart’s “Oh, snap!”
In that case he commented within about 5 minuted of the article going up, so was a bit premature. Doesn’t really make sense to me anyway, don’t see why someone would downvote it.
Like I said, LA Weekly Worst Hipster Bands nostalgia, one week later!
Remember when LA Weekly (or should I say LA WEAKLY, LOLZ) put out that crappy list? Those were the days…
Remember the fleeting reign of boner gifs? thems was some days…
boner gifs are like skinny jeans, they’ll never go away forever…
If anyone here has the chance to see Refused, do it. Went to a concert of theirs Wednesday in Portland and they were fucking incredible.
If anyone has the chance to see Swans, avoid the front rows. Those dudes play loud AND sneeze a lot. AISH!
Whatever Gira’s got, I want it.
I definitely regret missing out on that one. Everyone I know who went said the same thing.
Sorry for hitting the Top 5 by making fun of you, Stereogum. I still love you, but THIS IS AMERICA!
…and that is a real American.
Hey guys
hey guys guys
why did no one point out ever in history that Yo La Tengo has a new album coming out in January
or did I miss something
I demand an explanation
We’re too busy listening to all the incredible offerings released in the past month. HOWEVER, thanks for mentioning. New Yo La Tengo is indeed newsworthy.

wait..why would you say it’s awesome? ..oh….i get it.
So… you know, go to hell or something.
Exactly. How do people NOT pick up on that?
