Right now, Dinosaur Jr. are enjoying one of the greatest second acts in the history of American indie rock. Ever since reforming in 2005, they’ve been operating at a level way higher than anyone expects from a reunited heritage acts; their recent albums Beyond and Farm can absolutely hang with their peak-era material. They’re about to keep it going with the new album I Bet On Sky. Early single “Watch The Corners” was a great first look, especially with its smartly funny video. And now we get to hear the entire LP; NPR has a stream. To hear it, click here.
I Bet On Sky is out 9/18 on Jagjaguwar.

this monday, oh so streamy
Not as packed with greatness as Beyond, the strongest track ‘Watch the corners’ was written some years ago, this still has what we fans want.
Majestic guitar solos and the sense of timing that Mascis has always had, unlike so many guitar players who just want to play fast and high. The Lou Barlow numbers, as usual would be better off on a Lou Barlow album, but we’re used to that.
