Field Report is Chris Porterfield, Justin Vernon’s former bandmate in DeYarmond Edison, and he’s also the latest guest on the A.V. Club’s Undercover video series, in which bands cover songs that they might not ordinarily cover. On his episode, Porterfield and his band took on Sufjan Stevens’s modern classic “Chicago” and completely reworked the melody, doing an impassioned and weirdly grungy version of the song that, in Porterfield’s words, “tried to kick the twee out of it.” Check it out below.
Field Report’s self-titled album is out now on Partisan.

Came together nicely.
“Go Brewers!”
I was skeptical during the first verse, but in the end it sounded pretty damn cool.
Way to take a brilliant song and make it sound boring and bland!
