Yesterday, we told you about how Coachella offered to go vegetarian in exchange for a Smiths reunion at the festival, and then we mentioned a report citing “credible sources” claiming a Smiths reunion was indeed imminent.
Not so, say other credible sources, i.e., Morrissey’s publicist. “The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite — ever,” Moz’s flack told Rolling Stone today. When asked why, he responded, “You’d have to ask Morrissey that. There’s got to be a story there, and maybe one day it will be told.”
Considering the fact that Johnny Marr’s manager also denied the rumors, we’re going to assume this one is tabled for the time being. Ah well. Surely this is the last we’ve heard of these rumors! (LOL.)

I don’t know about Mike Joyce’s contributions to the band, but yeah, wearing your own band’s shirt? What’s up with that? I’ve been noticing more and more people in young bands committing this most bizarre act of ego run amok. I just try to tell myself that they are probably poor and have very few shirts other than the ones they sell (which I have found out is true in at least some cases), and that makes me feel better. I mean, we already know you like your band. Think about people who really have done something earth-shattering, like Superman. Even he only wears an “S” on his chest. There’s no picture of him smiling and zooming around the world saving people.
Please engage me if you disagree. Explain why wearing your own band’s t-shirt (especially in a press photo) is not tacky.
It’s pretty common, really! Here are some examples:

…etc. Mostly in older bands, as you can see.
I’m afraid “common” does not work as a defense. Murder and robbery, for instance, are fairly common, yet most people do not approve of them and would prefer that they never occurred. Spin titled their gallery “Shirt Happens,” which if you don’t know, is a play on a popular profane phrase that suggests that unfortunate events are bound to happen. The other site has written above their first photo,”Rockstar 101: Rule “Numero Uno” – Do not wear your own bands t-shirt or band merch. That’s equivalent to Kobe Bryant wearing his Los Angeles Lakers jersey to dinner.”
darn, i was hoping the Sniths would get back together.
lol. You snarky bastard.
Gah! The pitfalls of hitting publish too quickly. I’ve amended my error, thus erasing the setup for your joke. My apologies. Future readers: You’ll have to piece together on your own just what happened here.
Surely this the last time you’ll ever do that?
Seems like they left the door open for a Taylor Swift collab, though.
Na, they’re going to get back together. Thanks, though.
So you’re telling me there’s a chance.
Yawn – CARE.
