LaMontagne’s deep exhale at the beginning of “Let It Be Me,” a song from his forthcoming Gossip In The Grain (out 9/30), is packed with a tangible weariness and exhaustion. Once he starts singing, it’s clear he was making sure he had ample air to make it through the beautifully fragile, but sturdily human song that follows. Listen here. It’s all about breathing.

This has the same vibe as his first record, which is a VERY good thing. His first record was brilliant. His second was very VERY lackluster… so this is sounding pretty damn good. Still not getting my hopes to high for this.

What? His second record blew away the first; beautiful and downright haunting.

  3. Hi, If anyone knows the guitar chords to Ray’s new song “Let It Be Me”, please send me and email with the chords. What a beautiful song.
    Thanks,
