There’s been a lot of love for Damon Albarn over the last few months, which could quickly turn to disdain if we don’t get either a new Blur album or a North American date sometime next summer, but for the moment, the good vibes are going strong. More evidence: Phish frontman Trey Anastasio covered Gorillaz’s breakthrough single, “Clint Eastwood,” for his forthcoming solo album, Traveler. The arrangement is pretty true to the original, with Anastasio doing a rather credible Albarn impression on the chorus, and Anastasio collaborator Jennifer Hartswick totally updating the sound of Del’s delivery on the verses. Give it a listen.
Traveler is out 10/16 via Rubber Jungle/ATO.
