Lately, the National seem to be intent on forcing their way into every show on our collective DVR. Earlier today, we posted their cover of the Bob’s Burgers Thanksgiving song. And a few months ago, they contributed a song called “The Rains Of Castamere” to the Game Of Thrones soundtrack. And now they’ve gone period-specific with a song that appeared on last night’s episode of Boardwalk Empire. With a cover of Isham Jones And The Ray Miller Orchestra’s 1924 jazz tune “I’ll See You In My Dreams,” they leave behind moody indie rock and go full-on swing. Hear their version of the song at Consequence Of Sound.

Thank you! I was sure I was listening to Matt Berninger during the credits, but couldn’t find confirmation anywhere.
Funny. I thought it was Lyle Lovett.
I would take an album’s worth of this.
This is pretty great although I wish they’d get it together and put out a new album.
