Oh boy. Oh jeez. We can do this, everybody. We can get through this. The fact is this: Sufjan Stevens has just released a mixtape. Of rap songs. About Christmas. It’s called Chopped & Scrooged. It has a Das Racist song on it. And a Kitty Pryde song. And Nicky Da B and Busdriver. John Dieterich from Deerhoof produced the Das Racist song. And we’re all going to listen to it below. You ready? Good. Deep breath. Here we go:
OK. Now, if you really want to, you can download it here.

Cool Like Jack is pretty awesome, not gonna lie.
So… this is pretty cool. Did not expect that.
“XMas in the Room” is not even Sufjan’s most homoerotic song.
HO HO MUTHAF**KING HO
Hes gotta be on drugs right?
People don’t need to drugs to be in a creative mindset. Look at Frank Zappa.
This guy? No way…
Whelp, it was only a matter of time I guess
Wait – is Sufjan rapping or is it a blakroc type thing?
Downvotes? It was a legitimate question! I didn’t even suggest that either option was good or bad. Well – I guess I’ll just download it and find out. It’s not like I don’t have a 676 song Lil B mixtape in my iTunes.
Upvoted to get you back to even…didn’t deserve a downvote…
So I’m not in too far yet, but I really like this. I feel like Sufjan could write some awesome hip hop beats. The bassline on Night Zombies always sounded like it needed someone rapping over it.
Producers don’t exactly “write” beats…just sayin.
You’re right. Nobody actually writes music.
You should check out the Illinoize mixtape. A DJ calledTOR made a bunch of rap mashups with Sufjan tracks, and he used Night Zombies for one of them.

sure is /b/ in here
get this outta here
Someone need attention?
You know, one year I’m going to stop being lazy and make a mix CD of weird ass Christmas songs to send to friends, since it’s not like I’m ever going to get around to sending Christmas cards. Something from this definitely needs to go on it. Maybe Xmas in the room?
And every track from Bob Dylan’s “Christmas in the Heart”
Especially Must Be Santa, right?
Upon a few full listens its actually really good. The Das Racist song is killer.
To be honest I came into this with the lowest of expectations. But damn, last time I ever doubt Sufjan.
