Barcelona’s dank Balearic beat maker John Talabot and countryman/house producer Pional have already collaborated to great effect twice this year — see “Destiny,” from Talabot’s murked-out afterhours club record ƒn, and “Braves,” their triumphant theme song for the Spanish marathon — so here’s one more before it’s all over. On the xx’s “Chained,” the Spaniards turn that track’s hushed intimacy into an eight-and-a-half minute zoned-out, druggy house track. You may recognize the stuttering synth loop from the Streets “Blinded By The Light,” at which point you’ll understand this remix’s title (and the drug-references). You can listen to it and pulsate on a dance floor while feeling connected to no one, which does a lot to back up that “We used to be closer than this.” Listen below.
The xx’s Coexist is out via XL. Hail to the Streets:

Nice – was looking for this after I heard it in jamie xx’s boiler room mix. that’s a such a classic beat – forgot about it
3:52 on is so killer
why is this track not for sale? I don’t understand the point of releasing something with NO means of buying it.
killer
