I don’t know much about Syron, the young London pop singer behind the irresistible single “Here,” but I have a feeling we’re all about to know a whole lot more. “Here” is about as perfect as debut singles get these days: An absolutely luminescent bit of club-pop that effortlessly cycles in about five different recent dance-music trends and still works on classical pop-music terms. The video is all London party-life stuff, and it’s fun; I like her earrings. But the real reason to click below is the song.

Syron’s album Here is out in March on Ministry Of Sound/Black Butter.

White people can say “nigga” now?
She doesn’t say “nigga.”
She doesn’t, but it’ll hold it back from getting any bigger …. because it really, really sounds like she does.
Yeah, it definitely sounds similar. It’s like when I misheard the St. Vincent lyric from “you show up with a black eye…” as “black guy.” Huh, I thought, St. Vincent is sort of racist – but then it just turned out that I was.
Where’s the DROP!?
ANYWAY, really good song. The video for “Mainline” is also worth checking out.
