Julianna Barwick’s looped, harmonic vocal tapestry work is unceasingly sublime, if occasionally difficult to differentiate on a piece-by-piece basis. As such it is always the right choice for a good meditation/steambath session, and “Pacing” is no different, though it’s piano-laced sounds are somewhat more distinct. “Pacing”‘s resonant echoes and velvety ivories will add some majesty to the snowfall out your window. It’s the title track from a new EP she’s releasing on Suicide Squeeze, which is a label shift from Asthmatic Kitty, the home of her wonderful The Magic Place LP. Stream it:
Pacing is out 3/5 via Suicide Squeeze.
