AlunaGeorge’s new single “Attracting Flies” is probably the sweetest song about telling someone he is full of shit. It’s not just the bubbly synths or its unadulterated poptimism, but the notion that “everything you exhale is attracting flies” is so clever, I can’t help but smile at Aluna Francis’s bouncy coo throughout the hook, even if the song is about someone’s propensity for lying. We’ve had a sampling of what’s to come from the duo’s debut full-length Body Music but with “Attracting Flies,” they’re setting up big expectations for a record full of pop R&B that is both innovative musically and lyrically, as well as catchy as hell. I really wish P4k/ the gum would stop foisting this band on us. They’re NOT catching on, there’s no buzz, and there hasn’t been for years now. It’s a completely inorganic push for popularity, really reminiscent of the failed campaign for Skylar Grey a few years back.
