Killer Mike has always been an absolute animal of a live rapper, and he’s usually done it with a minimal mic-plus-DJ setup. Last night on the Late Show With David Letterman, though, a full live band, including hook-singer Scar and Mike’s buddy El-P on button-mashing duty, turned up to help turn the R.A.P. Music track “Untitled” into a percussive robo-funk workout. The result was something a whole lot tougher and more visceral and more life-affirming than your average late-night performance.
