Angel Olsen and Marissa Nadler both make gorgeously spare and withdrawn folk music, often on their own. But now they’ve joined forces, for no apparent reason beyond it being a good thing to do, to cover “Frisco Depot,” a 1971 song from the country-folk cult figure Mickey Newbury. The song is great, their voices work perfectly together, and you can hear it below.

As far as I know, there are no plans to release the cover commercially, so I’ll use this space to point out that An American Trilogy, the Mickey Newbury box set that Drag City released three years ago, is well worth your time.
