My favorite mixtape of 2013 remains The Luca Brasi Story, the rangy and bruising tape from the tough but sneakily melodic Baton Rouge MC Kevin Gates. Since its release, the tape has steadily been yielding low-budget music videos for tracks like “Just Ride” and “Neon Lights.” The latest, for the emotive “IDGAF,” is a slice-of-life portrait of a kid who supports his family by doing illicit things.
