Hit Me Baby One More Time, ITV’s battle of the has-been bands, is coming to the states this summer. Groups in the British edition include Tiffany, Limahl, Belinda Carlisle, Gloria Gaynor, Howard Jones, and Haddaway. NBC’s version has Wang Chung, A Flock of Seagulls, Tommy Tutone, The Knack, The Motels, Boyz II Men, Vanilla Ice, Air Supply, etc… In the competition, each band is asked to play its biggest hit and cover a contemporary song.
Wang Chung doing “Since U Been Gone”? Yeah, I’d watch that.

Thoughts;
I want HoJo on the US version.
Belinda Carlisle has had enough chances.
The Knack is probably too good for this.
It’s hard to dislike a band that turns their name into a verb.
the romantics are definitely too good for this!
full disclosure: i went to the link and discovered that the romantics are gonna be on this show. they’ll murder the competition – believe that!
The Knack should cover the Strokes. I mean, hey, what the fuck.
Sounds interesting. And also a bit interesting that two bands featured on Bands Reunited will be on the U.S. version. Though I’m wondering if it’s the more recent incarnation of A Flock of Seagulls, or the original lineup– who reunited again and did some shows together last year.
Time to refresh my 80′s/90′s nostalgia memory:
Tiffany – I Think We’re Alone Now (and the music video was set in a mall. A crowded mall.)
Limahl – Neverending Story (“Artex!!”)
Belinda Carlisle – Heaven Is A Place On Earth
Gloria Gaynor – I Will Survive
Howard Jones – New Song (heard in the umm, “classic” movie ‘Supergirl’)
Haddaway – What Is Love (or “that Night At The Roxbury song”)
Tiffany is on both shows. that whore
“hit me baby one more time” 2015 edition
Bloc Party, Billy Corgan, Hot Hot Heat, Clay Aiken, Black Eyed Peas, Dave Grohl
Should be interesting enough…Loverboy! WHOA!! I can only imagine what that bunch of Canooks looks like now – EW!
Lineup I’d Like to See:
Sir Mix-a-Lot
Wall of Voodoo
10cc
Sniff ‘n’ The Tears
Walter Egan
(How many of these are dead?)
