It really was very sad for me to hear that I would never have the opportunity to attend a live show of Luther, that was one of my dreams. I connected with his music and really felt a deep sense of loss. I pray that God gives his family the strength to bear his absence and I pray that he rests in peace.

  4. Luther Your soul will rest in perfect peace, All our prayer go to Mrs Vandross. I think GOD knows best, Luther is needed in heaven, He will be singing and dancing with (Mr Vandross) Again As he’s always wanted. GOD bless LUTHER. LUTHER YOUR MUSIC LIVES ON

To Mom Vandross, despite your grief you know that your son was loved by all. Because of the nature of his illness God knew that he would not be able to give 100% again of himself so he called him home where he would be whole again and use that wonderful powerful voice of his to give praise in song to his creator. I have asked God to grant him eternal rest and let perpetual light continually shine on him. To you and the remainder of his family know that he is only away in the physical but will be with you spiritually always. Keep the faith. Rest in Peace, Luther

So many special times Luther has been there for us in “spirit” where we could not see or touch him. We could only listen to his most beautiful music and enjoy the happiness that his voice brought to each of us no matter where we were in our lives. No matter what has happened to us or what we have done, he was there for us unconditionally providing what we needed most.

Luther, you have always been an angel and your love lives on in the air that each of us breathes.

Luther you can now rest, rest, rest, and more rest. Dance with your father now in heaven. Share with him all the things he missed with you and tyour mom. Hold your brothers and sisters and know now that they are yours, because it’s “Never Too Much.”

    Good Bye My Friend

  11. Rest in Peace Luther! Let’s pray for his mom, Mary Ida. She has seen all of her children die and has no siblings alive. She needs strength and will to go on.

Jeff, you are one sick puppy. The good thing about it is ” you reap what you sow”. You are going to need compassion one day and you WILL NOT recieve it.

I LOVE LISTENING TO LUTHER AND THINKING ABOUT THE TIMES I HAVE WATCHED HIM PERFORM AND NOT TO BE ABLE TO SEE HIM AGAIN IS HARD TO THINK ABOUT. ALTHOUGH HIS LIFE WAS VERY PRIVATE YOU COULD NOT HELP BUT TO FEEL LIKE YOU KNEW HIM FROM LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC. Luther Vandross was one of my greatest singers ever. He take me back to the 1980′s. Everytime he was in D.C., I was where he was. I prayed for him when he was sick and prayed for his Mom, to give her a fresh supply of strength to help him and keep his spirits uplifted. His song “Dance With My Father” touched home, my Daddy went on home to Glory in “2001″. I will miss Luther, but I will continue playing his song. God Bless the Family.

What can I say??? Losing an Artist such as Luther Vandross, is a major lost to all of us who loved him. I have enjoyed the sounds of Luther Vandross since he began singing with, I believe it was a group called CHAIN. My favorite song was a “House is Not a Home”. That song tears me up and always will. Rest in Peace Luther Ronzoni Vandross and may god continue to bless you. To the family god’s blessing.

I can remember Luther way back, several of his concerts I attended with his back up signers, he just awesome. When I heard the news, I was just shocked. Got out all of his CDs and played a tribute all day Saturday. His voice was just so smooth, and …. to listen too and what ever. His music was music (all of it). He will surely be missed. Rest in Peace Luther.

What a wonderful voice Luther had. Ever since a House is not a Home I have loved the way the melodies danced out of Luther’s mouth. What a blessed God given talent. Sing my brother, sing now for the Lord. He made you and he knows you. For all of you out there, with diabeties and high blood pressure, take care of yourselves. These are both serious illnesses. My brother cannot listen to your music for now, but with time healing will come. God Bless Mother Vandross and the whole family.

  31. Luther had that voice that just made you want to listen to the message that he was making at the time. Unlike a lot of singers, he set a great role model, and when his fans remember him, they can with joy in their hearts that he was so positive, while yet being a little lonesome not to be able to see him, or hear another new song of his. Rest in peace, and you will truly be missed by your true fans. The Dance with my Father Again, was a great album.

“But we would not have you ignorant, breathren, concerning those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

It is my hope that the family of such a great man can find comfort in these words. Be blessed and know that God never ever makes a mistake.

Can you imagine the heavenly choir now that Luther is a member.

Wow, what a wonderful gift that God our Father has blessed you with. I did not know you personally, but like so many millions I have been touched by the amazing sound of your voice. I hope and pray that in your life you had accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior so that you can continue to use that voice among the angels.. You were a gift from God. Thanks for so many wonderful songs..

From all of the comments I have read, I am probably one of the older fans of LV, I remember when he first started and made it big. He was one of those famous people that you never heard anything bad or negative about. In all of his years at the top of the music industry, you never heard of him trying to hurt anybody or do anyone wrong. A real good person and a god send, i think sometimes it is sad that he never got married or had any kids, but god’s plan is different for all of us. His song’s were kind and gentle and he lived his life treating people like they should be treated with love and respcet. I will not dignify the comment the person named Jeff made about the death pool, except to say i feel sorry for him because somewhere in his raising some adult let him down so his ignorance is not all of his fault> Luther Vandross, we know you are with the angels now and you can be with your father forever, thank you for the happiness you gave so many people through you song’s and the way you lived you life, god bless you, you will always be remembered,

I was greatly saddened when I heard the news Luther had passed. I was driving with my family on vacation. The kids were asleep and it was just my wife and I listening to a soul station in Florida and when I heard the news, I put my head in my hands and almost crashed. My wife said she was sad too but she was surprised how much the news hit me. I saw him twice in concert (with my wife only once) and he was a true artist. His voice is unmistakable and the emotion he put into every note shook me to my core. I’ve been a fan since his days with Change. So many of his songs had the word “love” in it and were about love, one must assume he knew more meanings to the word than most and it came out in his songs. My favorite song of his is “Wait For Love” but ask me when I would be in a different mood and it could be one of his many other songs. You’ll be greatly missed, I was eagerly awaiting to see you again perform but He wanted you all for His own choir. Thanks for the memories.

This is a new beginning for Luther, he will be missed by many, young and old. He will suffer no more. We wanted him to stay, but God wanted him more. He will now be with people that he loved so much. He can now dance all over heaven with his father. I offer to his family, friends my condolences and mostly his mother with whom he promised he would be there for her always, and he will be there if not in body, but always in her “Heart & Soul.”

  49. Over 25yrs as a DJ, both radio and nite-clubs, I have never experienced such inspiration, joy, sorry, love and utter fullfillment than when I hear Luther sing.He has been there with me through the good and the bad.Although no longer with us in body, he shall forever be by MY side until I depart this world.

It was a deep thing for me to accept but I know your among the heavenly choir now. God has called you home to “dance with your father”, and you will be truly missed here on earth but the reassurance is that I along with many others will hear you again when we get to heaven. Luther I love you and make that dance a good one! Rest in Peace!

    Luther,
You will be truly missed. Your voice is so amazing. There is no one here and now nor ever that can match you as a superstar. Your music has taught us all that there is nothing better than love; so we should never underestimate the power to love. We should all stop to love that special someone.

I still remember the night I fell in love with your music.

I cannot believe that Luther is gone! He will be missed by so many. Luther changed the lives of many and was an inspiration to many. I loved all of his songs. There will never be another to bring what Luther brought to the music world.

I remember playing Luther music up and down the highways. Every now and then i would have my private Luther Vandross concert in my living room.

To Luther family, i know you loved him more than us, but God loved him more. He is back with his creator and i’m sure he’s singing in heaven. If he could speak to you all right now, he probably would say, weep for a little while and then let me go. I am home, i am free and i’m dancing with my father again. God Bless

Mr. V- you have touched so many hearts with your heart felt songs. You have torn down so many walls with your words of love. You have healed the broken hearted, you have rekindled the bleekest flames. You have done you work and you have done it well. I thank you as all of your Number 1 fans thank you for sharing your song of love with us. I remember seeing you in concert in Oakland where you were recording live and you said to the audience, “now if you’re here with someone you should be here with, you’d better move now because you will be seen”. So many people starting walking around it wasn’t funny. It was awesome. You tore it down. Now my brother, rest. Much love to you Mother V- and to the family, continue to be blessed. Your sister in Christ and in the music family, Yolanda.

    Luther Vandross,
Is and will always be the most elegant, talented and heart warming singer that I HAVE EVER HEARD. A concert with Luther was the experience of a lifetime.Since his death I have been sad and dismayed, because I selfishly wanted to hear that magnificent voice in concert again. I had to accept that the physical person may no longer be here, but he leaves twenty plus years of love songs that we will be able to enjoy. Luther was so right , There’s Nothing Better Than Love,. So in a tribute to his life let’s practice expressing love on a daily basis and showing appreciation to those around us.I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around his family especially her mother and comfort here always. Just think of the words,Forever, for Always, for Love,The Night I feel in Love, If Only for one Night, Creepin, Never to Much, Here and Now, So Amazing and Dance with My Father Again. Smile and nknow our brother may be gone, but his music will never, ever end.

Hearing Luther Vandross songs takes me back to many happy memories. I can recall haveing family gatherings with Luther playing in the background. I appreciated his music because he spoke to the heart of a woman. It was poetry, it was thought provoking and yes VERY romantic. I pray for his family and loved ones.

I just wanted to say that my prayers and condolences go out to Luther Vandross’ family and friends. I was a very big fan of Mr. Vandross from my early childhood and throughout my adulthood. I started to listen to him when I heard my mother play his albums when I was much younger. I was like that is some beautiful music. Although it hurts me to see him go and to be taken at such a young age. I know that he is in a better place now, not only is he able to have peace, as well as no more pain or suffering but he is now able to truly Dance with His Father Again. I love you Luther Vandross and will miss you dearly…

I loved Luther with all my heart. My three kids was concieved by luthers songs. they are 39,38 and 34 now. I would love to get a copy of Luther’s funeral and would pay for it. Can anyone help me? Rest in peace my brother. When we feel we have nothing left to give and we are sure that the “song has ended”.When our day seems over and the shadows fall and the darkness of night has descended.Your work is not finished or ended, you’ve just come to “a bend in the road”

Luther Vandross was an inspration to me whenever my stepfater had passed away. His song “Dance with my father Again” made me cry and think….I always wanted to dance with my stepdad and even though he wasnt my real birth father he still treated me like I was his very own.So I thank you Luther for that wonderful song and I am ALWAYS remember your music and your love to your music because your music is REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
