M.I.A. Leaves Roc Nation, Is Accepting Résumés
M.I.A. has had a messy couple of years: The Super Bowl flap, the great single with no album attached, a blocked documentary, the years-long wait for Matangi. And when stuff like that happens, the artist can usually share some blame with her management. Well, now M.I.A. is looking for new management. As SPIN points out, M.I.A. tweeted earlier this week that she’s parting ways with Jay Z’s Roc Nation company, which looks after artists like Grimes and Haim: “im leaving @RocNation. Thanks to everyone who supported the M.I.A. #MATANGI LP. HAPPY NEW YEAR.” And maybe now you can replace Jay; she’s also taking résumés for people to join her team: “MIA 4 the people by the people. Looking for young people to work in fields of ART production / MUSIC/MERCH / FILM / WEB / MARKETING Snd CV.”
