Interesting things tend to happen when White Denim get around cameras. Sometimes they film naked old people, sometimes they bust our lenses. This time the scrappy Texan trio are mired in a scrapheap, surrounded by busted up jalopies, streaked in grime, whipping through “Shake Shake Shake” at the center of a dance party of scuzzy junkyard miscreants. Mattresses burn, hotties sponge down Beamers, and you will probably watch it a second time.

“Shake Shake Shake” comes from the Workout Holiday EP, out via Full Time Hobby.

What’s the big deal with this group? At least this video helped to clear up whether the bass player is male or female. When I saw them I honestly couldn’t tell if he was a dude or a lady.

Where’s the stuff about them being a big deal? No one really seems to hype ‘em up except for the dude at GvsB. *obligatory comment about them being a fun band and for you to relax or something*

Hype or not this band is awesome and always a great live act. As for the bassist, you’re kind of douchey for even saying something like that. Like androgyny ever hurt a rock stars carreer. Oh, and they are not from Denton, they are from Austin but, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if you just said they were from Texas.

yeeeeeah i won’t be watching that a second time.

  6. I watched a second time and I swear the guitarist got just a little bit better… I mean there’s nowhere else to go than up for these guys!

  7. Shake, shake, shake shake, sh-shake it…wait a minute…you’re not Metro Station at all!

  8. Fresh song, not-so-fresh video concept. The video reminds me of “Kalifornia” mixed with “Gummo”, the song is there though.

I live in Austin, and don’t really care about “claiming” this band, spiriting them away from the mere idea of being from dark and dingy Denton, Texas. Though having seen this band live, I’d say they are at least better then this song. How in the hell is this a single? Where’d they get a budget to make a video for something as unlikable as this song? Well I’ll tell you internet world. In Austin everyone does everything for FREE. Direction, design, production. You name it. We are expected to work for Free because it’s so hard to get creative jobs here. So we work for nothing expecting someone later to see the work and possibly pay us for more. But that never happens and we are all sad and drunktown.

Actually, no, John Fox is pretty right about the whole working for free thing.

well well well….then maybe the entire world should move to Austin and get their shit done for free. whether a free music video or a car detail……sign me up! i’m calling Mayflower Movers immediately

  11. the band has one of the best album of the year…

john fox…this vid was shot in London by a British director with British crew and Brit ass money, homie. I too live in Austin and make videos, but at some point I realized that complaining about the lack of paying work is, scientifically, gay.

    also, this single is awesome.

also, your whole comment was just the pits, man…the fuckin pits.

but, I like you John. You’re probably my favorite single/John right now. I love you.

uhhh… yeah. some of you need to lighten up and live a little. white denim is fresh and full of life. or maybe you’re too much of the ‘life sucks’ shoe gazing type to be able to crack a smile anymore?

track back on some austin music history and you’ll see white denim fits in perfectly.

    rock pants, ON!
